Architectural Polyurethane

the best alternative to wood and stone decor

Polyurethane Ceiling Medallion

Polyurethane is NOT Polystyrene (Styrofoam)!
Architectural Polyurethane (Pu) elements are often confused with Polystyrene foam (better known as Styrofoam). Pu is much more dense and durable than other foam polymers. Think of architectural Pu as the “Pine Wood” of the foam world. It cuts like wood, installs like wood and withstands daily wear – just like wood. But Pu doesn’t warp, rot, split or attract bugs. It’s waterproof and resistant to mold. It also has lightweight and semi-flexible characteristics that make it easier to install than its alternatives.

Architectural Pu is tough enough to install with a nail or brad gun, and dense enough to cut it into thin strips without breaking apart. That is why our crown moldings, baseboards, ceiling medallions, columns, and other products are made from Architectural Pu. The way it works is simple. An activator is added to a Pu mixture, which makes it expand in a decorative mold. It’s set to harden, and once removed, it has taken the shape of whatever element we’ve meant it to be. Then, a primer is painted on the facade of the product, making it easier for the installer to finish the product.

Finishing one of our products can be as simple as coating it with a gloss paint or as complex as spraying it with a faux-stone garnishment. There are no limitations to how our products can look once installed and finished. That is why we strive to fortify our dealer/installer network with the industries top professionals across the United States.
